Calcium propionate used as a food additive is a monohydrate salt, stable to water and heat, hygroscopic, easily soluble in water, 39.9g/l00mL (20°C), insoluble in ethanol and ethers. The product is compatible with food grade, pharmaceutical grade, industrial grade, and feed grade (HG2921-1999, tech grade, FCC/E282/USP, feed grade)
Applications

[1] As a food additive, it is listed in E282 of the Codex Alimentarius. Calcium propionate is used as a preservative in various products, including but not limited to bread, other baked foods, and processed meats. , Whey and other dairy products. Maximum usage (Japanese standard): 3.15g/Kg.
[2] In agriculture, it is used to prevent milk fever in dairy cows and as a feed additive.
